Sword Training With Shiro

I would sit on my snowboard floating in a large open field as I wait for Shiro.

*Shiro walked up with his hands in the cloak he wore with no shirt underneath because of his bandages. He looked at Arashi floating idle as he smiled.*

Look's like you'd like to be better with a blade no?

"Yes I would."
I would then look at the bandages.
"But are you okay Shiro-san."

*Shiro laughed a bit. as he patted his chest were he was impaled.*

It's not that bad. Nothing can keep me down that easily

I would smile and then hop of my board.
"So do you think you could help me with my swordsmanship?"

Of course. But understand this first. Swordsmanship is not the same as the Ninja arts. Saying so, sword arts don't always invole chakra, but simply the style of how a blade is used. With that being said, you think you understand the differences?

"Yes I think understand."

Good. Now then.

*He placed his hands behind him as he looked Arashi in the eyes.*

Why do you think you need to improve in swordsmanship? The task of mastering both it adn the Ninja arts is actually quite difficult. The elements of each style are completely different, which seperates us form normal swordsman.

"Well I really want to not so much rely on my Ninja arts or my shikai's but on my own personal skill."

So you want to become stronger?

"Yes stronger with my blades."

I see.

*Shiro now had gripped the handle of his reverse blade.*

Tell me then... How do you think this is done...

*Shiro then drew his blade, and in the swinging motion he created his Dragon Howl to cut through the ground and evetually crash into a tree a ways off. He then held his blade at his side.*

If you want me to do it again, I'd be glad to. All I want you to make is a simple observation.

Seeing the attack I would then think for a moment.
"Is it from the speed and force of the blade when being drawn from its sheath."

Good observation. But if that was the case...

*Holding the blade still in the air, Shiro swung it down to emit the same Sonic Boom from his swing.*

Then it would be impossible to do so without it being drawn. Though, this certain attack is at it's best when the blade is being drawn from it's sheath. Understand?

I would nod my head.
"Yes I see. So it is still the speed and force of the blade but it can be done while being swung or drawn."

Exactly. As you can see my blade is not exactly designed to kill, unless you flip the blade, but still this requires you to know a certain style for the blade is put in reverse. Which is why I tend to keep my swordsmanship to a rather higher level than most ninja. Now then. Since you've analyzed the technique, let's see if you can repeat it. You will be the first I teach this to.

*Shiro laughed a bit as he looked at Arashi now placing his blade back in it's sheath.*

Ready to try?

I would sheath Amatsu-Kusari.
"Yes I'm ready when ever you are."

*Shiro made his way to Arashi's side and placed his right hand behind his back, leaving his left hand rested on the hilt of his reverse blade.*

Alright then. Give it a shot.

"Alright"
I would grip my blade and then draw it from its sheath the would be a large burst of power although it would only seem to explode in front of me creating a large hole.

Heh. See. You're still applying a force to the blade when really its not that complicated. Now watch.

*Shiro turned away from Arashi gripping hs blade once more. Then drawing it with an almost invisible strike, the massive sonic boom emmitted into the air.*

It's all based on the speed of your blade which in turn creates the force of a sonic boom to flow from the blade of the sword. Now then with that noted, try again.

*Shiro made his way back to Arashi's side with his right hand back behind him.*

"Okay"
I would turn and face a tree I would grip my blade. I would the then draw the blade at a fast speeds releasing a large sonic boom that would begin to rip threw the ground and would then cut the tree in half.

Good. You're a quick learner. Now, to help inprove on your speed when drawing, we're gonna have a simple quick draw contest.

*Shiro then bagn to walk a small distance from where Arashi was standing as he continued speaking.*

This is not to test the power of your Dragon Howl, but simply to test the time it takes for you to swing your blade. Speed is key in this technique, for it's what creates the sonic boom.

*Stopping he turned around and then took a drawing stance also known as batojutsu.*

Now then.. ready?

I would take a stance and I would then sheath and then grip my blade.
"Ready when ever you are Shiro-san."

*A slight breeze began to pass through the field as they both stood. Shiro's hand layed relaxed on top of the handle of his reverse blade for he had not gripped it as of yet. The blades of grass swayed as the wind shifted through the area. Shiro was waiting on the wind to ceased, which is when he would draw.*

Seeing Shiro waiting for the wind to settle I would sink deeper into my stance and I would keep a ferm grip on my blade.
