Solitary Hunting Part 1

Maina and Naina entered and Eternal Desert, hot as hell because of the heat of it all. Luckily they were smart enough to dress for the occasion and, instead of those dresses that they liked to wear, they were dressed in swimsuits so that the hear wouldn't effect them as much as it would have when they had their dressed on.

Maina: " Alright, We need forty, lets try and get at least 16 from this time, train a little bit after and get another 16. then we'll wrap it up with a simple 1 and go back to see Misery and Despair. "

Naina: "... Understood. So where are the monsters Maina? "

Maina: " Shit if I know, probably underground... you remember what Perura taught you right? "

Naina: "... of course dear sister. I've a very keen memory, making blades purtrude from my body is very simple to me now and I can always use you and vice versa. "

Maina nodded and with that, they both waited.

The sands of this place were raging. However, there seemed to be nothing popping up... Or, nothing yet. After a few moments, two Sand Scorpions appeared on either side of the duo, looking mighty vicious.



They were extremely large for scorpions, both being larger than Maina or Naina. They hissed at them and snapped their claws, slowly circling the two.

Maina practically latched onto her sister at the appearance of the scorpions. Even though they were huge, they were still bugs and she was scared of bugs.

Maina: " Why us... why couldn't it be something else?!?!? "

She yelled, releasing her sister, as they walked around in a circle as well, walking in the opposite direction of the twin scorpions. Neither one of them had mastered fighting alone, but this was great practice. Maina started first, turning her fist into a small chakram and moving her arm as if throwing it, it flew forward so that whatever scorpion that walked in front should get cut through the middle. Naina didn't do anything just yet, except take Maina's hand.

(A weapon can't really detach weapon parts from the body... That Chakram would have to be connected to a string or something... It would be like ripping your hand off and throwing it, if you get what I mean. I'll just treat it as if it were on a string.)

The first Sand Scorpion would see the chakram coming and naturally, pinched the flat side of it with its Claw before pulling on it in an attempt to pull Maina closer so that it could devour her. If it couldn't, then it would simply try to throw her.

The second Sand Scorpion was more bold and lunged its tail out at Naina, using its Poison Sting attack. Naturally, this tail was filled with deadly poison and stinging her would not only cause a fatal wound, but poison her with such deadly... poisons.

( yeah, it's was a string or something else that bound the chakram to her. Sorry I didn't mention that. I tweaked. )

It was a good thing that the chakram was grabbed and Maina was pulled. Because of that pull, Naina was pulled from harm of the other scorpion and both girls were sent flying towards the other one. Maina whipped her body around, being able to maneuver in the air easily since she wasn't restricted to only move forward because it was a string that connected the chakram to her arm and not some kinda super thick as chain. With her whipping around, Naina turned into her weapon form and Maina aimed to cut through the scorpion that had pulled them, using the initial force of his pull against. To add to the damage, Maina cocked her arm back and threw Naina at the scorpion to get her spinning, that way it was easier to cut through it, if they were able to of course.

The Scorpion holding Maina would block the hit with its other claw, wounding it a bit, but not so much that it was unusable. In fact, with them close, it stiffened its tail and started to stab at the two of them wildly and swiftly using the Poison Sting that the other Scorpion had used.

In the mean time, the other Scorpion seemed to be conjuring up some sort of magic... Without warning, there was a large explosion of fire which would wrap around the entire area trying to burn away what was caught in it... The Fira spell. The initial explosion would blow Naina off course when thrown and hopefully burn the hell out of Maina so that she could be stabbed by the Poison Sting no prob.

" I hate clingy monsters. "

Maina stated, she was trapped and caught by the beast, but she wasn't helpless and much less defenseless... well she actually was kinda defenseless right now, but she was never helpless. Naina was blown off course, but came back around to attack the Scorpion that wasn't holding her sister, hoping to hit it in the back of the head, and cut it off, but that would be a little too easy.

" Let me... GO! "

Maina cocked her leg back, taking the taijutsu prowess that her partner had to heart and purtruding blades along her leg and swinging her body around to deliver a powerful kick to the scorpion's head, she continued these well timed kicks to hopefully turn the creature around and be hit with its partner's while also taking damage from the blades on her leg.

The Scorpion holding Maina hissed painfully when she kicked it, immediately flinging her elsewhere rather hard. Such kicks to the head threw off its equilibrium, causing it to be in an eternal stumble. It tried to walk toward where it threw Maina, but was too wobbly to walk straight, so instead it tried to use a Fira of the same proportions as what its twin did, but missed and actually shot it in Naina's direction, once again blowing her off course.

The second Scorpion could see that its twin was wounded and decided that the best course of action was to attack from underground, since it was better at fighting from underground, anyway. They were scorpions of prey, not of attack. So, it dug underground and fell silent, leaving only its twin, which still stumbled about, trying to regain composure.

" Whoa.... this is just not my day I swear. "

Maina stated, being thrown through the air and landing a fair distance away. She could still see her prey, which was good, she licked her lips expectingly and put her hand out, catching her unruly twin and standing.

" We got this Naina... I'm gonna enjoy that thing's soul... "

Maina said licking her lips once more, slowly, and throwing Naina with all her strength before she took off running after the chakram that was aimed at the wobbling scorpion. It was hard to get good traction in the sand, but she managed to move fast enough to get to it just as it would either be stricken by Naina and cut in half, or deflecting her. Either way, Maina pushed off the sand and brought her leg around for another powerful kick to the things head, hoping to dispatch it or at least make it topple over helplessly. Neither Maina nor Naina worried about the one that disappeared in the sand, he would show soon enough and it he did, they'd search for him with Soul Perception.

The wobbling Scorpion definitely knew that they were attacking it, but it couldn't really aim correctly like this. As such, it just flat out went crazy, causing Fira explosions everywhere, trying to totally incinerate the entire area with said explosions until it ran out of energy, which it was doing rather quickly with such explosions. Most likely the explosions would blow away Naina once again, and possibly even Naina as well, but after they were done, the Sand Scorpion fell over, tired. It really hoped that they were dead.

As for the other Sand Scorpion, when Maina jumped into the air, its claw would quickly shoot out of the sand at great speeds and grab her leg, pulling her right back down, face first, into the sand with great impact. Soon after, the area would be hit with a Fira explosion, harming the Scorpion a bit and causing it to wail, but it quickly brushed off the explosion. It looked to see what happened to its meal before burrowing back underground to wait for another opportunity to strike.

The fira of the wounded beast did nothing but veered Naina off course, again she really needed to find away around being veered off course so easily. As it was, she turned back to her human form and moved to run towards the tired beast, dodging all of the explosions, and coming out with to no damage at all. If she had any it was barely anything to her since she didn't feel anything. She moved to the tired beast, stopping in front of it and causing blades to purtrude from her fist as she brought it down heavily on the beast head, if it succeeded in hitting then she was sure that she had put the beast out of its misery.

Maina grumbled, spitting out sand as she stood up and looked around where she was. She hadn't been hit with the fira that wounded the scorpion that grabbed her, thank god, but she did feel the bruise growing on her ankle from the beast grabbing her and pulling her back to the ground. It looked like it hadn't grabbed her hard, but she was delicate. This was one of the first times that she had fought without Koudo using her as a weapon.

" This is really starting to piss me off! Where the hell did the thing go! "

They were getting better with the soul perception, so she didn't have to close her eyes to see souls. She could sort of see a faint one in the sand, always moving so that it couldn't be tracked... she was tracking it though. She walked slowly towards it when it came to a halt and did the same as her sister, slamming her fist into the sand hoping to wound the beast and pull it out of the ground... or punch clean through it's head with her bladed fist.

As Naina ran toward the wounded Scorpion, her hand would be interrupted by the claw of the second Scorpion, which burst through the ground in front of its twin to stop the hit. They seemed to be rather coordinated with each other, surprisingly. The other was down for the count, but this one was perfectly functional and would try to protect its brother. Its body was halfway out of the ground, only its head and claws could be seen. When Maina tried to get close to it, its long, large tail would shoot out straight from under her trying to hit her with a Poison Sting once more.

Naina was quite surprised that her fist was stopped. she didn't move however, only pushing more so on the claw that stopped her, hoping to cause some kind of damage to the scorpion while it was trying to protect it's brother. That's when it hit her, her and Maina didn't function very well without Koudo and that was because they hadn't been complimenting one another's strengths and weaknesses. Maina was the fast one and the best with kicking, while Naina was the personal strongest and best with her fist as well as being the best with controlling her weapon form. They needed to be able to compliment each other a little better, work better as a team. With just realizing that, it felt like her wavelength had strengthen itself, enough for her to alert Maina of the danger coming her way.

Naina: " Maina... the tail.... "

Maina stopped running and jumped back quickly, narrowly escaping the tail, but escaping it nonetheless. She looked at Naina, waving as thanks before starting to run again. They didn't know what their wavelength did, but they were sure that as they trained they would figure it out. Maina got in closer, running up behind Naina, before jumping over her sister and coming down with a hell drop, hoping to wound it with this by hitting it square on the top of it's head with the blade that grew out of her heel.

Fortunately for the Scorpion, it had an extra claw free saved just for Maina. Even though Naina was strong, she didn't seem to be able to completely overpower the Scorpion. Once again, the Scorpion would grab Maina by her leg in the air and slam her down when she tried to give it the ol' axe kick. But this time it didn't make the mistake of letting go of her and held on tight to both of the sisters. It started to conjure up another Fira, this time at point black range. It was sure that this fiery explosion would burn away the sisters, forthe explosion it made was large enough to hit the two of them.

The girls didn't stand a chance of evading or anything of the sort and as such they had to take the hit. They both erupted in a scream, being as they had on swimsuits and as such their skin was being directly burned by the explosion. They didn't falter though, and there were no burn marks, but they were still being held by the scorpion. Maina having one of her strengths completely blocked off while Naina was pretty much helpless without having her sister free. Her strength was strength, but she couldn't do it alone. Naina retracted her fist, before retreating a good amount back and taking her sister's hand, trying to pull her free.

" Oww. Oww! That hurts, it has my ankle, and the grip is getting tighter. "

Maina complained, going into weapon form so that it would be easier for her sister to pull her free. Now, it was a good ole' fashion tug-a-war and Naina wasn't gonna lose. She used all her strength, planting her feet firmly in the sand, but not too firmly that she wouldn't be able to move if something came up.

Unaware of what was going on, the Scorpion was forcefully pulled from the ground, still gripping Maina tightly. It would have been flung through the air, but before that happened it tried to sneak in another swift Poison Sting to Naina before it was flung. Afterward, it would land on its back, struggling to get up.

Naina continued to pull, pulling it from the ground and over her head to slam it to the ground. before this though, it tried to hit her with a poison sting attack. Naina was aware of it's tail and when it came in close, she released her sister and gripped part of the tail without being touched by it's poison and gripped the tail ever so tightly.

Maina took her human form and pried herself from the Scorpion's grip, before looking to Naina.

Naina: " Okay... take this... "

She used the tail as something to pull on and used her strength to pull it into the air, over her head, and drive the scorpion down on his brother to dispatch them both at the same time.

Even though the blow was very powerful, it wasn't enough to kill the scorpions. It only seemed to cause them both to become unconscious... However, the final blow would be rather easy to give at this point in time, as they would be... unsconscious.

Maina licked her lips quickly before taking her sister's hand.

" Come on Naina. "

Naina: " Okay... Maina.... "

They both walked to the scorpions, Maina jumped in the air to deliver a heel drop to both the scorpions' bodies, while Naina cocked her fist back and brought it done heavily upon both of their heads.

Yeah... So, with the combined power of both sisters, the scorpions stood no match and... uh. They died. They each had a soul that was worth about 11 normal souls.

" Yes! "

Naina: " We did it! "

They both cheered, hugging each other and jumping up and done. They stopped and grabbed the souls, one for each of them, and devoured them filling themselves growing stronger rather quickly. With souls that were worth eleven each, that was 22 souls right there and they had only planned to get 16 today. They were something like set now, it was time to get back to base and rest.
